Sultanate and Iran agree to promote cooperation

The countries call for respect of un charter


MUSCAT: His Highness Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmood al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for the Council of Ministers, received on Wednesday Dr Mohammad Javad Zarif, Foreign Minister of Iran.


The guest conveyed the greetings of President Dr Hassan Rouhani of Iran, along with best wishes of permanent success to His Majesty the Sultan and the government, and the Omani people further progress and growth.


The meeting reviewed the existing bilateral relations between the two friendly countries and means of supporting them in several fields. The meeting also touched on issues of common concern.


The two sides exchanged views on regional and international developments, as well as the efforts exerted in prevailing security and stability in the region to serve peoples’ interests and enhance international cooperation.


Meanwhile, a session of talks was held between the governments of the Sultanate and Iran.


The Omani side was headed by Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al Busaidy, Foreign Minister, while the Iranian side was led by Dr Mohammad Javad Zarif.


The talks touched on the relations of bilateral cooperation between the two friendly countries.


The talks reaffirmed the joint keenness to promote cooperation in various spheres.


The two sides exchanged views on a range of regional and international issues of common concern.


The two sides also asserted respecting the principal of non-interference in internal affairs of countries, the UN Charter and the international system based on law, equality and justice, as well as backing endeavours of achieving security and stability.
